Description

I have two main things to say about this drawing.

1) Meet Trinity. She is a really (really) old character of mine, born from a half-remembered dream in the middle of the night that developed into my first attempt at a manga-style comic, but fizzled out pretty quickly.

She belongs to your average secret Organisation, fighting your average alien mecha, but she is no longer your average agent. Call her old fashioned, but she's not interested in electronic weaponry or physical upgrades; she'd much rather put her trust in her own four organic limbs and her tried-and-trusted Vietnam war era artillery with the security of loading her own bullets. Unfortunately, that stubbornness puts her at a disadvantage compared to her peers, and in my personal opinion, will one day kill her.

Part of it comes from her ex-partner, who built himself up to the nines with all the tech on offer, only for it to malfunction at a crucial moment. The only reason he (and several other members of their team) survived was because Trin, with absolutely no mechanical parts, was unaffected by the glitch. Part of it comes from simple mistrust of new things.

Trinity is not a pretty young lady. Aside from her...interesting bone structure and unruly hair, she has downright creepily blank eyes. None of this is helped by her oculocutaneous albinism - she has almost entirely white skin, white hair, and red-pink eyes. Her eyesight is terrible, and while not on missions her rectangular glasses are about as thick as a finger (while on a mission she relies on contact lenses).

She is conscious of this, and while her fellow female agents might play up their seductiveness, Trinity plays up her unnerving looks with a certain unblinking stare that usually gets her what she wants. It's quite disconcerting.

But moving on.

2) I am a digital art noob. I bought SAI for my birthday this year, and was given an amaaaaaaahzing intuos tablet....yet this is the first serious drawing I've done with it yet. I owe so much to the (mostly) patient advice of :iconmudkipbubble: - TANKOO GREATLY. I was SO ready to post this by now...seems like it took forever...hahaha....

Also, thanks to :iconjaicca: and :iconshapshapy: for the boke and background respectively.

Final comment, I named Trinity before I saw the Matrix, and laughed so much when I saw the similarities.

EDIT:: wait, what?! I was looking this over to compare with what I'm working on now....did I sign this 2012?? Fail brain, fail. (c) 2013, guys, 2013.
