Evie

Evie was my 11 year old self's Mary Sue OC. Y'know. The one most people have at some point. She was a blatant self insert/rip off of Deltora Quest, and by the time I was 14 I was writing a novel about her and had three more stories planned out. I eventually realised how bad it all was, but Evie herself has stuck around in my imagination. Maybe I shouldn't bother, but recently I started revamping her story, just for fun. Now I would like to consider it a deconstruction of itself. I might write it for practice some time.

Evie was my first try at plotting, worldbuilding and character development. Hence, it kind of stuck with me when I woke up in bed the morning after some pre-sleep plotting....and realised that somehow I had resolved to kill off Evie's toddler son. Woops.

Yeah. So, my first piece of 2015 is Evie trying to get her head around the fact that yep, there is a kid on that hip. AKA being an awkward nerd around children because reasons. And being sort of happy before shit happens and I feel mean. Also, me trying out backlighting for the first time since that time I tried drawing Cal and Barton sharing a bathroom mirror and failed horribly.

I tried.

/goes to bed because I'm sharing a room with my sister and she might be mad if I wake her up too much
